MediaWiki is the site software that powers WikiForge. It is maintained by the Wikimedia developer commmunity as it hosts Wikipedia and its sister projects. WikiForge runs on version 1.42.1 (61e9a5b).
WikiForge runs the most up-to-date version of MediaWiki and changes the platform via extensions rather than hacking on the core. MediaWiki is designed to be an extremely extensible software, and extensions allow developers to make changes that all wikis can use and while continuing to be able to update the software.
